~ Printed Invitations ~
If you haven't got time to make your own invitations, or you have a lot to make, then have a look at our own selection of printed pirate invitations.
~ Hand-made Invitations ~
If you have got some spare time on your hands, and have planned well in advance, then we have some exciting ideas here for you that will really get you in a swashbuckling mood for a pirate themed party! Your child will also love to get involved and depending on their age, they could have a great deal of input here.
Basic Cards
You can buy plain cards and envelopes quite cheaply now or you can also make your own from coloured card. Decorate the front with nautical gingham flags, stuck-on string and knots, pirate flag skull & crossbones, treasure island pictures, stuck-on sand, collage palm trees, anything goes!
You can really be creative. If you only have a few to make, each one can be different and personal.
Treasure Maps
Using A4 paper or card, dip into cold tea and leave to dry.
Once dry, you can slightly rip the sides or brown with a match to make the edges look authentically old.
Write all the details of your party onto the paper and then roll up the treasure map and tie with a piece of ribbon. You can also add a pinch of flour inside for authentic years of dust!
Message in a bottle
Using a similar invitation to the rolled-up treasure map above, place in a clean empty plastic bottle (small water bottles are cheap to buy), along with some handfuls of dry sand or brown sugar for the same effect. Fasten the lid back on the bottle.
Wording
Use pirate terms or language in your invitation, eg.
Ahoy, me hearties!
Cap'n Jack (insert own name) and his trusty crew
are sailinginto port on 18 November
to celebrate his 7th Birthday.
Calling all landlubbers to enjoy some swashbuckling fun
at his Pirate Party from 4-6pm.
Prizes of booty for the jolliest
or most fearsome costumes.
